The Lord High Chancellor and his Vice Chancellor have been returned to office, following the first election for their positions since they took office.

Having called an election with a petition which received signatures from most citizens of Gabon under the electoral system made by the new constitution, the people have shown their continued support for the Lord High Chancellor.

Although the all-powerful position of Lord High Chancellor was only contested by one other person — the First Lady of Gabon, FKA_twink — the results show that there is a mandate for BritishWanderer to remain at the helm of Gabon.

But his future in the role remains unclear. Having received only 58 per cent of the vote, the remaining 42 per cent of voters favoured the First Lady.

“I’m extremely overjoyed to be re-elected”, said the Lord High Chancellor.

“The populace has shown faith in both myself and Vice Chancellor Gobblin to continue to lead the country onwards to greater heights.

“We will attempt to do all those who voted for us proud, and hopefully convince some residents who did not vote for us to change their mind when the next democratic outing comes along!”

New faces in the Lord’s Council

There has also been a shake up in the Lord’s Council, with three new councillors-elect replacing the incumbent council — none of whom sought re-election.

The top two candidates, Flushy and Ahrimanne, were unanimously elected by the voters.

The remaining winning candidate, AidanVonLoopy, was elected with a 75 per cent share of the vote.

Three candidates received no votes at all.

The elected candidates will remain in office for at least 28 days, the time that must pass before another election can be petitioned.
