Following a state visit, Gabon and Hjaltland today ratified a friendship and alliance treaty that continues the government’s promotion of foreign embassies and promotes the security of the country.

Top state officials and diplomats from Hjaltland were welcomed into Salisbury by the Lord High Chancellor, the First Lady and the Vice Chancellor alongside excited throngs of citizens trying to catch a glimpse of the pomp.

After a picturesque tour of Gabon, those from Hjaltland were whisked off to Balmoral to attend to the signing of an all-important war alliance treaty.

The treaty provides for the countries to assist each other with collective defence in war or armed conflict.

This follows the Lord’s Council recently repealing the law that required Gabon to stay neutral in any armed conflict.

Continuing with plans by the Agency for Growth and Innovation to create a dedicated embassy area, the treaty also requires both countries to build an embassy in the other’s territory.
