In an apparently urgent vote, the Lord’s Council repeals the neutrality law in Gabon opening the path for future participation in armed conflict.

Just moments after calling a vote on the matter, with the Lord High Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor the only members of the Lord’s Council to vote on the issue, the vote was called and the law was gone.

Having ensured Gabon remained neutral in conflict since February 2020, the law represented a hallmark of Gabon’s foreign policy and had kept the country safe — being one of the only countries untouched by the scars of being a theatre of war.

“I sincerely believe that since Gabon has left the Varkonian Union, it is imperative that the Republic realigns itself on the world stage”, said the Lord High Chancellor at a press conference announcing the change.

“Repealing the neutrality act is the first step towards enacting these plans.”

The government declined to comment further when asked by the Gazette.
