Voters queued in the longest lines ever recorded in Gabonese history to cast their votes this election. (Chancellery Images)Following a close election, the Lord High Chancellor has announced the three new councillors for the new term.
Despite the threat posed by Covid-19, voters turned out in their highest amounts since Gabon granted its citizens the franchise and queues through the polling station took much of the day to dissipate.
After all votes had been counted, Tiddy, rclMan and GetSkinny were returned to the Lord’s Council.
These results accorded with the Gazette’s exit poll results.
Although the Gazette predicted that there would be a tie in third place between GetSkinny and Vemredat, a candidate preferred by the Shadowynn Company, ultimately GetSkinny received more votes and won the seat.
The successful candidates are expected to take office shortly.
