Ahrimanne has been elected mayor of Mount Augusta, following hours of confusion after a last-minute vote amendment prevented counting of the tight race.

In an extremely close election that was determined by a single vote, counters had trouble determining whether the amendment by Dr_Oracle was made prior to the end of the voting period.

After hours of deliberation, the counters decided that the vote standing at the end of the election period was for Ahrimanne and his amendment to Topher3001 was made too late in time.

This follows an earlier order given by the judges to provide evidence that the vote was invalid.

If proof was not given, the judges were set to decide the vote with a secondary run-off election.

This did not end up being necessary.

Ahrimanne successfully campaigned with the following platform:

  • the Mayoral Powers Act should be repealed
  • activity should be stimulated and revitalised, by organising public events and facilitating large-scale construction projects
  • Mount Augusta should remain neutral in the war — it should be a place of peace
    • Ahri will negotiate with both sides of the war to negotiate neutrality, without compromising on sovereignty or the rule of law

Former mayor citylion, whose term ended in disgrace, said the results were “outstanding”.

“I would like to thank the voters of Mount Augusta for giving me this great opportunity, and as promised, I will immediately begin negotiating for [Topher3001’s] liberation and handover of the illegal Mount Augusta bunker complex,” Ahrimanne tweeted shortly after taking office.

The results follow yesterday’s explosive interruption of the mayoral debate which had to be suspended.

Controversy in judicial election

At the same time as the mayoral election, a judicial election was underway for prior judge Godomasta’s vacant seat.

Although this election was won by a landslide, the winning judge specificlanguage resigned immediately after taking office and then attempted to cancel the resignation shortly afterwards.

The judge resigned due to a rule requiring judges to remove themselves from foreign positions of official power.

He holds the office of moderator in the Forum for International Diplomacy and is a member of the legislature of The Commonwealth.

A trial is ongoing to determine whether his resignation remains effective or if he needs to resign from the foreign positions.

In the meantime, some citizens have treated his resignation as remaining on foot and have started a new election for the judicial office.

A judgment by the presiding judge, Mokotan, is set to be handed down in the coming days.

The vote to remove terrorist judge waffle4breakfast remains underway.
