The UDF alliance today loses one of its members. (Unsplash)Bloom has today voluntarily left the United Defensive Front alliance after tensions erupted surrounding the nation’s relationship with NATO.
Originally founded in July 2019 after the fall of the United Northern Congress, the UDF is an alliance between Icenia, Columbia, Yoahtl and Imperial Truidence. As an institution the UDF says it is “mostly” neutral, instead allowing its members to guide their own foreign policy.
But after Bloom was found to be consorting with NATO members, Columbia issued an “ultimatum” that if Bloom did not leave the UDF, Columbia would.
This unhappiness with Bloom’s penchant for NATO members is shared by other members of the alliance.
“Bloom’s eagerness to accept NATO members and Laconia members into their ranks is untenable for our alliance, which has had member states bombed by NATO affiliates and sovereignty violated by people in Laconia,” said ChrisChrispie, the Icenian president.
“We are an alliance at war with NATO. We expect our allies to respect that and be involved with the war effort.”
Friendly relations expected to continue
The remaining members of the UDF alliance have indicated a desire to continue friendly relations with Bloom, despite their formal partnership ending in a split.
“Bloom and the UDF parted ways on amicable terms today,” said Enforcer15, the speaker of the UDF and a member of the Icenian government.
“Their departure, while disappointing, is a testament to the flexibility and resilience of both the UDF and the people of Bloom. Going forward we anticipate continued trade, cooperation, and good humor between Bloom and the nations of the UDF.”
ChrisChrispie also said that Bloom and Icenia remain good friends.
Columbian government officials did not respond to requests for comment.
Bloom’s choice informed by desire to support Columbia
The choice for Bloom was simple, it appears. And the reason for this is largely based on considerations of supporting Columbia.
“Columbia needs the UDF,” says Slushhi. “They’ve been attacked by NATO so many times and they can also contribute a ton more than we can to the alliance.”
“We had to declare neutrality because Bloom has no allies anymore and we can’t go on any offensive or defensive against NATO.”
“We still support the coalition, but we can’t do anything to help anymore.”
