The Grand Prince has today declared that Gabon is exercising its withdrawal rights under the Varkonian protectorate treaty and intends to become independent once more.

This move is at odds with the will of the Assembly who, early yesterday morning, ultimately rejected the Grand Prince’s proposal to regain Gabon’s independence from Varkonia.

The Gazette understands that the Assembly today held a second emergency meeting in as many days, with the Grand Prince’s revolutionary ideas the sole topic of conversation.

In a sore rejection of the Grand Prince’s authority, the Assembly unanimously voted to remove the Grand Prince from office and replace her with a member of the Assembly.

We are informed by an eminent local constitutional lawyer that the vote is non-binding and has no legal effect. Despite this, it sends a powerful message to the Grand Prince that the Assembly will not tolerate any further attempts at independence.
